Changing Places opens!

We’re celebrating the opening of a Changing Places at DZC, making the 40-acre site more inclusive for our visitors.

The new fully-accessible large facility, which can be found in the toilet block by Lorikeet Lookout on the lower zoo site features specialist equipment such as a toilet, a height-adjustable sink, a ceiling hoist for personal slings, an adjustable full-sized changing bed, a shower and privacy screen.

Zoo Director Derek Grove, said: “We understand how vital it is for visitors with complex care needs, alongside their families and carers, to have a facility like this at attractions such as Dudley Zoo and Castle.

“We’re pleased to have been able to deliver a purpose-built area which visitors can safely use with dignity, allowing everyone to enjoy a great day out at the zoo.”

The new Changing Places has been built thanks to a share of a £150K grant from central government under the Changing Places Toilet Programme Fund, which was awarded to Dudley Council.

The Changing Places room can be accessed with a radar key and is clearly signposted from the entrance and on zoo maps.
