Wednesday 29th May 2024 – SOLD OUT
9 pm – 10.30 pm
Join us for a walk on the wild-side at DZC on Wednesday 29th of May, and discover the native animals that come out to play once all of the visitors have gone home. The evening will include a 30 minute talk from local bat experts, The Birmingham & Black Country Bat Group (Brumbats), about native bat species, conservation and what we can do at home to help bats. This will be followed by a guided tour around site, using bat detectors to listen out for some of the 7 bat-species we have living wild on site.
If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of our resident badgers, foxes and deer too!
BrumBats was established in 1985 and re-launched in 2006. Since that time they’ve been working tirelessly to not only record and conserve bat populations in our county, but also to raise awareness of the importance of urban biodiversity.
Tickets are £8 per adult and £5 per child (8-15 years)
The Bat Walk & Talk does not include Zoo admission and no access to any parts of the Zoo will be permitted. You must stay with the tour guide on the designated pathways at all times.
All guests should arrive at our customer car park via Tipton Road, DY1 4AL. Drive down the Tipton Road towards the Black Country Museum from Castlegate Island, turn left at the traffic lights onto Discovery Way. Turn left at the small roundabout and halfway down Zoological Drive, there are some large double green gates on the right hand side where you will access the site.
The tour will commence from this point once everyone has arrived.
Due to the distance between the entry and exit point, all guests will be asked to leave the site at the same time, unless in case of an emergency.
Tickets are not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. Tickets are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and have no cash value.
Due to the hilly nature of the site, special arrangements must be pre-arranged for disabled guests and people with limited mobility.
We advise wrapping up warm and wearing sensible walking shoes!
