Supporting Cikananga

We’ve pledged our support to the Cikananga Conservation Breeding Centre (CCBC) in Indonesia, making it the 16th in-situ animal conservation project we currently financially contribute to each year.

Over a five-year period, we’ve assured the CCBC £10,000, to help with their work breeding endangered and critically endangered endemic Indonesian species, particularly songbird species.

Following our successful fundraising for the EAZA ‘Silent Forest, Asian Songbird Crisis’ campaign, for which we received a gold award in 2020 for contributing more than €5,000 to save Asian songbirds from extinction, DZC’ s bird keepers were keen to continue supporting the songbird species.

The CCBC, which is located within Cikananga Wildlife Center currently houses Black-winged Myna, Rufous-fronted Laughingthrush, Javan Green Magpie, Sumatran Laughingthrush – which we have here at DZC – and Javan Pied Starling, with our £2,000 a year commitment allowing the team to cover the cost of a keeper’s annual salary.

By paying the admission fee to visit DZC, purchasing souvenirs in the shops or buying adoptions and animal experiences, you are helping us to contribute to these vital projects around the globe.
